As of 6/6/2025 congress has not authorized expanded subsidies that were enacted in 2021 to help pay for plans purchased through Healthcare.gov for plan year 2026 and beyond.
These subsidies assisted individuals/families that made more than 400% of Federal Poverty Level ($124,800 for a family of 4) in the costs of a plan through Healthcare.gov. As an example, a family consisting of two 50 year old adults and two children, ages 16 and 14, living in Travis county, Texas, who made $125,000 of income in 2025 were eligible for a cost reduction of $1270 per month on their plan in 2025. This made the lowest cost plans under $400 for them. If these expanded subsidies are not reauthorized for 2026, this same family would pay a minimum of $1525.25 (using 2025 pricing models).
This would not only effect mid level income families, but also most members at all income levels would expect to see some type of increase.
